Welcome to

Magnus Karlsson

Almost everything in my pages is in Swedish. Some things might be of interest to you anyway. To help you get the most out of my site this page presents brief summaries of the different sections.

Maths - Photography - Tycho Brahe - About & contact

Entrance page in Swedish

Maths [ Matte ]

Some pages with mathematical content.

The Mandelbrot set [ Mandelbrot ]

This page describes how to calculate the Mandelbrot set. An introduction to complex numbers is provided and I've put together a small gallery of subsets. The most interesting page is probably the one where you can zoom deep into the beautiful Mandelbrot set.

An applet can't save files (of security reasons) so if you want to save the pictures you discover while you zoom you will have to download my Mandelbrot application. A Java application is allowed to save files.

Enjoy!

Möbius band [ Möbius band ]

Another way to have fun with mathematics. Originally I wrote this page in English and I haven't changed it. So it's all there for you. Just get a piece of paper, a pair of scissors and some glue and go on.

Infinity [ Oändligheten ]

An introduction to infinity. Is it possible to understand infinity? Well maybe you can't understand it but you can get used to it. The page contains links to similar pages in English:
Snowflake--Limits and Infinity

Photography [ Foto ]

Pictures

Take a look at the pictures in my galleries.
I have more photos at Flickr.

Depth of field

If your camera lens doesn't have a scale that indicates the depth of field, maybe this program for your mobile phone might be useful.

Tycho Brahe [ Tycho Brahe ]

Probably Scandinavia's most famous astronomer. Tycho Brahe lived from 1546 to 1601 and made enormous contributions to the formation of our view of the Universe. It was Brahe who made all the observations which led Johannes Kepler in Prague to his laws of planetary motion. The page has links to english Tycho Brahe sites.

About... [ Om... ]

I was born in 1967. Lived in Trollhättan the first 19 years. Then I moved to Lund to study mathematics and physics at the University.
Presently I work at Falkenberg Highschool where I teach physics, maths and computer science.
As you might have understood above, I'm interested in photography.
